As part of its initiative to grow and nurture an inclusive and diverse team, FA Bio’s ‘Culture Champion’ award recognises and celebrates those who make significant contributions to the team by living the company values. Each quarter, the team votes those individuals worthy of the award, recognising their contributions to the company culture and innovation.
The latest recipient of ‘FA Bio’s Culture Champion’ award is Ana Dionisio. As a Microbiologist, Ana is primarily responsible for managing the SporSenZ campaigns, from processing the sensors and getting them out to growers to extracting and analysing species from the samples that are returned. Ana ensures there are adequate stocks of all the materials needed to meet the target of sensors, that each sensor is made to the highest of standards and is registered with the operations team for dispatch. She then processes each of the sensors as they are returned from agricultural fields around the world and extracts DNA from each single pure species to identify what it is.

As well as being responsible for the dispatching of a big SporSenZ campaign in the previous quarter, Ana has also stepped up to assist in the growth and development of the laboratory team. She has introduced new team members to the processes and procedures of our SporSenZ campaigns as well as being an open point of contact for her colleagues with questions or concerns. Ana is always happy to help the team, even if it’s outside of her role, and enjoys being given the opportunity to learn new things and develop herself as well as the company.
Ana has had a keen interest in sustainability since her final year at university when she was involved in a project that looked at applying microbes to agricultural fields to control crops and pests, without using pesticides. Since then, she has been focused on learning how we can use these diverse microbes to do something beneficial for our environment and is fascinated by their unpredictability and great potential.
Ana is pleased to be a part of the FA Bio team pioneering next generation solutions for healthier, more sustainable food production. Our mission is to transform crop production by developing innovative bioproducts that support regenerative agriculture, reduce carbon emissions and enhance crop resilience. At FA Bio, we’re committed to reducing the environmental footprint of agriculture while ensuring optimal yields, paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future.
Ana Dionisio said: “Being recognised by my colleagues for living our company values means so much to me. It reminds me that our shared dedication to a more sustainable future for agriculture is valued and supported by everyone on the team. I’m proud to be a part of FA Bio and work on groundbreaking solutions that could truly make a difference. Every day, I see how our team’s commitment to innovation and sustainability drives us forward and I’m excited to be contributing to our mission, knowing that each small step we take in the lab brings us closer to revolutionising sustainable agriculture.”
Sarah Atkins, Molecular Biology Manager, comments: “I am so pleased for Ana in receiving the Culture Champion award, she truly deserves this recognition. Ana consistently demonstrates a willingness to assist her colleagues. She works to a high standard and is committed to improving our processes. Her commitment to communication and collaboration with the entire FA Bio team will help us achieve collective success in the future.”
