We are deeply saddened to inform you of the passing of Dr Paul Atherton, the Founding Chairman of FA Bio. His courageous battle with illness had a huge impact on his life and the lives of his loved ones who have supported him so immensely over the past twelve months
Paul transformed us into founders. His mentorship and passion for entrepreneurism were the key driving forces behind the founding of FA Bio (FungiAlert as it was known then). As our mentor in 2015, Paul not only inspired us to fight for our ideas but also gave us the tools and encouragement to transform our vision into a business. His enthusiasm for science and its intersection with business will leave an inspiring legacy. We feel immensely fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn from him, laugh with him, and dream together about how FA Bio’s technology could change the World. We will always remember Paul as a mentor, colleague, and friend.
Paul was a successful serial technology entrepreneur, who focused on start-up companies emerging from UK universities. He mentored numerous entrepreneurs who utilised his knowledge and experience when fundraising or fuelling growth through his prestigious networks. Paul was passionate about making the world a better place, and this drove him to support the founding of start-ups with solutions to address critical issues such as climate change, cancer research, feeding the world sustainably and mental health.
We offer our deepest condolences to Paul’s family and friends at this difficult time. His legacy will continue to inspire us as we strive to make a positive impact on the world, just as he did.
