Dr Emma Burak, PhD

Field Trial Manager

Emma is a post-doctoral researcher in plants, soil, and the environment. Working closely with industrial partners and farmers, Emma is experienced in the design and facilitation of field experiments to evaluate the commercial viability and environmental impact of novel agricultural products. As well as an in-depth understanding of the inner workings and pressures of agricultural companies, Emma also understands the challenges around collaboration between industrial partners and farmers and how to negotiate them.

Emma has over 10 years’ experience in the research of soil and its impact on plants and the environment, with a particular focus on soil reinforcement, erosion mitigation, and soil health. Emma has previously been a Research Fellow in Agricultural Nutrient Management and Soil Science at Cranfield University, where she evaluated the efficacy of an organo-mineral fertiliser to capture carbon dioxide promote plant and soil health. More recently Emma has been a Sustainable Fertiliser Manager at Yara UK, a global leader in nitrogen fertiliser production, developing their organo-mineral fertiliser product range.

Emma has a Bachelor of Science degree in Outdoor Education with Environmental Education from Liverpool John Moores University, a Master of Science degree in Water and Environmental Management from the University of Bristol and a PhD on the influence of root traits on soil reinforcement and erosion mitigation from Lancaster University.
